Today was Wednesday.
19 days left to Rivendell
Flying home from home. We had to fly back to DC again (non stop and thats where we parked our car)
We were able to trade our ORIGINAL second half of our round trip first class ticket and since we canceled the ORIGINAL flight we got a first class credit for this exact route. Our seats had been sold by then, so we found another earlier flight and got to sit together in row 5 this time. AWESOME!

| Eggs, ham and some kind of sweet potatoes and a cinnamon roll. The Banana was Michael's. |
The staff was friendly, but one of the flight attendants was new and they made some errors with order taking. They said they had three breakfast options
1. a blueberry muffin with banana and cinnamon roll
2. quesadilla with ham
3. waffle with fruit compote
they "ran out" of the quesadilla before we ordered so I ordered the waffle and Michael ordered the muffin and fruit.
They came back to us once to apologize and say it was not a muffin after all, but raisin bran cereal and banana and honestly that was better for Michael anyway so he was happy to adjust.
They came back to me again to say they had run out of waffles so they are so sorry but would I like some eggs and cheese in a tortilla with ham? That sounded ok to me. I wanted a quesadilla in the first place.
They delivered our meals after the rest of the cabin was almost finished and to apologize they offered us BOTH a biscuit and both a cinnamon roll (even though they told the rest of the passengers they were "all out" The attendant even said to hide it so others didn't get jealous. (SERIOUSLY HIDE A CINNAMON ROLL?) They were not seeming to try to be deceptive PER SAY, just very disorganized. Are you out or are you hiding food? How odd?!?!
I heard one of the attendants before the flight say it was her first flight and that she had just finished orientation. So that alone makes it more interesting. There were three flight attendants in first class, and I think it just kinda confused them of who was serving passengers and who was not getting served was more ambiguous. Im not being picky AT ALL, (I mean SERIOUSLY there was food period it was better than coach!!!!) The food was good and the attendance were very friendly to us. It was like having several bartenders for a bar, neither really focused on anyone because they were too busy with everyone. Very interesting...

When we left we were told to take another way out of the terminal than we took to get to our plain on the way to CA. It was SO MUCH FASTER! Instead of a million miles and elevators and hallways and Star Wars decorations it was hop on this bus thing and they take you straight over to an elevator and down to baggage claim. Then we still had like a mile to walk to the car, but it wasn't bad, only 85 and partly humid.
One bad thing though, they took Michaels wheelchair, McGee, (Donuts Benson McGee to be precise) apart even though we cover him SPECIFICALLY so the DO NOT DISMANTLE his chair. The back was removed and a piece was broken off and now missing from one his BRAND NEW footplates. Kinda sad. They just don't seem to realize how necessary this wheelchair is for us.
| pardon the water droplets... CA got a little bit of much needed rain . |
Here McGee is being loaded into the aircraft at SFO, covered, tagged, and in one piece; and how he magically got uncovered and taken apart and pieces lost is BEYOND ME...
At least this time he seems to not be too seriously damaged. His joystick is having some issues, but I think that is my fault. I had taped it up but when I shoved it into our bag I think I wiggled the tape loose and now it tuns on and off at VERY awkward moments. Like in mens rooms, in crowded elevators, crossing streets ect... Im hoping to get him fixed up at home.
With all the time it took us to get McGee, our bags, find and elevator to a no-stairs walk way, and hike over to the car it had been over two hours after we landed.
(I'm telling you that airport is INSANE!)
I was SO TIRED. We didn't sleep well the night before and I couldn't sleep on the plane. Michael and I decided to stay up in Alexandrea and go to Mt. Vernon tomorrow. It was SUCH a good idea.
We got to the hotel about an half hour after we left the airpot . The hotel has a full Starbucks in the lobby (YES PLEASE!) and a great restaurant across the street. We checked in, got a accessible room and walked over to Joe Theismann Restaurant.
We have been here before and really like it. Our waitress was awesome! This place has a bit of Boston lets-go-have-a-pint bar, part DC's upwardly-mobile after-hours watering hole, part sports-bar. Its just a comfortable place to sit and talk, cozy, lively, but not loud. Good find!
The food is good too! Its bigger than it looks here, and has more tables.
We ate and went home and PASSED OUT! Good night!
